January 6, 2024

There are various types of masks, including ordinary masks, medical masks, surgical masks, and protective masks. How do you choose a mask that suits you? How do you wear a mask correctly? Let's explain it to everyone below.

  1. Mask types and protective effectiveness: Protective masks > Surgical masks > Ordinary medical masks > Ordinary masks

  2. Ordinary masks (such as cotton, sponge, activated carbon, gauze) can only prevent dust and haze, but cannot prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses.

  3. Ordinary medical masks: can be used in public places with low population density.

  4. Surgical masks: provide better protection than ordinary medical masks and can be worn in crowded public places.

  5. Protective masks (N95/KN95): used by frontline medical staff who come into contact with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients, staff at fever clinics, on-site investigation sampling and testing personnel. They can also be worn in high-density or enclosed public places.

  6. For the recent prevention of novel coronavirus pneumonia, medical masks should be used instead of ordinary cotton, gauze, activated carbon masks, etc.
