The Importance of Choosing the Right Cleansing Water for Your Skin

January 5, 2024

Cleansing the skin is the first and crucial step in any skincare routine. The choice of cleansing water plays a significant role in this process, and there are certain considerations to keep in mind.

1. Alternating hot and cold water

Generally, using alternating hot and cold water for cleansing is the best method. To thoroughly remove dirt from the pores, start by opening the pores with warm water. Then, use a cleansing product and massage with fingers to remove impurities from the pores. After rinsing with clean water, finish with cold water to tighten the pores. This approach ensures thorough cleansing and promotes blood vessel constriction for improved skin elasticity.

2. Running water is better than stagnant water

Many women have the habit of cleansing their face in a basin of water, but this practice is not scientifically recommended. It is better to choose running water for cleansing to maintain the cleanliness of the skin. Only with running water can the cleansing product be thoroughly rinsed away, without leaving any residue on the face that could potentially harm the skin.

3. Soft water or hard water, which is better?

Water can be categorized as soft or hard. "Hard water" contains a higher concentration of minerals, such as calcium salts, which can interact with the ingredients in cleansing products and hinder thorough cleansing. On the other hand, soft water has a lower mineral content and helps with skin metabolism, effectively removing dirt from the surface of the skin. Water in the northern regions tends to be harder than in the southern regions. If you find the water to be hard, you can boil it and let it sit for an hour before using.
