Choosing the Right Cleansing Water for Your Skincare Routine

December 26, 2023

Cleansing the skin is the first step and a crucial step in any skincare routine. The choice of cleansing water also plays a significant role, and there are some considerations to keep in mind.

1. Alternating hot and cold water is best

In general, the best way to cleanse the face is by alternating between hot and cold water. To thoroughly remove dirt from the pores, start by using warm water to open them. Then, with the cleansing product and the massage action of your fingers, remove impurities from the pores. After rinsing with clean water, finish by using cold water to tighten the pores. This method ensures thorough cleansing while promoting blood vessel contraction and enhancing skin elasticity.

2. Running water is better than stagnant water

Many women have the habit of cleansing their faces in a basin of water, but this practice is not scientifically sound. It is better to choose running water for cleansing to maintain the cleanliness of the skin. Only with running water can the cleansing product be thoroughly rinsed away, without leaving any residue on the face and causing harm to the skin.

3. Soft water or hard water, which is better

Water can be classified as soft or hard. "Hard water" contains a higher concentration of minerals, such as calcium salts, which can interact with the ingredients in cleansing products and hinder thorough cleansing. On the other hand, soft water has a lower mineral content and can help with skin metabolism, effectively removing impurities from the surface of the skin. Water in the northern region tends to be harder, while water in the southern region tends to be softer. If the water is hard, it can be boiled and left to sit for an hour before use.
