Warning Signs of Heart Problems: Recognizing the Signals

January 2, 2024

Many studies have found that many diseases have warning signs before they occur, but many people are unaware of them. Some people often experience pain in different parts of their body, but the pain may disappear after a while. Now let's analyze the warning signs that your body may give you when your heart is having problems.

1. Breathing

Breathing may become difficult and you may feel tightness or stabbing pain in your chest. The pain is short-lived, lasting only a few seconds, or at most, one minute.

2. Chest Pain

The most common is angina. Angina often occurs suddenly after exertion, excitement, or a large meal. The pain is usually located in the center of the chest and may feel like pressure, burning, or squeezing. It may even feel like a suffocating sensation of imminent death. Sometimes, the pain may radiate to the left shoulder, back, and inner side of the left upper arm. The pain lasts for a short duration, disappearing in 3-5 minutes, and rarely exceeds 20 minutes. In severe cases, the pain may extend from the front of the chest to the back, between the shoulder blades. It may occur every 10 days to two weeks or every three to five months, with shorter durations being more severe.

3. Arm Pain

If there are problems with the heart, it may cause the left arm to feel sore, numb, or painful. This is because the nerves of the heart and the left arm are connected, so problems with the left side of the heart may affect the left arm.

4. Neck Stiffness

Heart problems can also cause neck stiffness and limited mobility. You may find it difficult to turn your neck in the morning. This is because when the heart has problems, the carotid artery may narrow, leading to poor blood supply and stiffness of the nearby muscles.

5. Stomach Distension

Heart problems can damage our spleen and stomach. When the spleen and stomach are affected, their ability to digest and absorb food decreases. Undigested food may cause stomach distension and reflux, also known as "gastric acid".

6. Increased Appetite

When the heart has problems and cannot deliver nutrients properly, you may always feel tired and want to eat more to replenish your energy. Consuming excessive amounts of food can lead to an excessive intake of sugar. The liver and kidneys are responsible for processing sugar, and excessive sugar intake can lead to liver and kidney failure, making you more susceptible to diabetes.

7. Nightmares

When the heart has problems, the nerves of the body may deteriorate, causing you to become easily nervous and easily frightened. It may be difficult for you to fall asleep at night, and you may experience recurring nightmares during sleep.

8. Fatigue

Fatigue is a common symptom of various heart diseases. When the circulation of blood is not smooth due to heart disease, metabolic waste can accumulate in the tissues and stimulate the nerve endings, causing a feeling of fatigue. Fatigue can range from mild to severe, with mild fatigue often being ignored, while severe fatigue can interfere with work. However, fatigue caused by heart disease is not specific and is difficult to distinguish from fatigue caused by other diseases.

When your body frequently experiences the above problems, you should be alert and pay more attention to your health. Rest and nutrition are important.
