Traditional Chinese Remedies for Tooth Decay: Effective and Natural Solutions

January 1, 2024

Tooth Decay is a condition that many people encounter. If not treated in a timely manner, it can gradually develop into apical periodontitis, leading to tooth loss. So, why not try traditional Chinese remedies to treat it?

Causes of Tooth Decay

1. Bacteria

Bacteria are the primary factors causing tooth decay. Bacteria mainly adhere to the tooth surface through dental plaque. Food debris in the oral cavity is degraded, resulting in the formation of a high-viscosity polysaccharide matrix in the dental plaque, while at the same time, acid is produced, leading to tooth demineralization.

2. Oral Environment

The oral cavity is the external environment of the teeth and is closely related to the occurrence of tooth decay. The main influencing factors are food and saliva.

Carbohydrates are related to the formation of dental plaque and are the main energy source for bacteria in dental plaque.

Changes in the quantity and quality of saliva can increase the incidence of tooth decay.

3. Host

The teeth are the host during the process of tooth decay. The shape, structure, and position of the teeth are directly related to the occurrence of tooth decay.

Grooves are defects left during development, and bacteria and food debris are easily trapped in deep grooves, making them difficult to clean, leading to an increased incidence of tooth decay.

If the teeth are insufficiently mineralized, especially if there is insufficient calcification, the enamel and dentin will have low density and low caries resistance, increasing the probability of tooth decay.

4. Dietary Habits

In the process of tooth decay formation, diet plays an important role for bacteria.

Foods containing large amounts of carbohydrates and sugars are both the energy source for bacteria in dental plaque and can cause tooth decay through bacterial metabolism, which dissolves proteins.

Especially for children who love to eat sweets.

Treatment of Tooth Decay

1. For toothache caused by internal heat, soak Sichuan pepper in white wine for about ten minutes. Take out the Sichuan pepper and pour the white wine onto the painful tooth to immediately relieve the pain.

2. For toothache caused by wind and fire, as well as tooth decay pain, mix baking soda and honey into a paste. Dip a clean cotton ball into the baking soda paste and apply it directly to the painful area, bite down on it. Replace it twice a day, and the next day you will find that the toothache has disappeared.

3. For periodontitis and gingivitis, mix an equal amount of egg white and white wine together and stir well. Take a mouthful and hold it in your mouth without swallowing it. Spit it out after five minutes. This can relieve the pain and inflammation in about three days, and the toothache will be cured.

4. Grind white pepper into powder, then add an appropriate amount of white wine and stir to make a paste. Fill the tooth cavity with the paste to alleviate the pain.

5. Prepare fresh beeswax and high-purity alcohol. Ignite the alcohol and burn the beeswax until it turns black. Apply the black ash directly on the teeth, and the pain will immediately subside after about five minutes.

6. Crush Liu Shen Wan into powder and apply it directly on the painful tooth and gums. Rinse it off after about ten minutes. Do this once a day.
