January 1, 2024

Many people often experience stomach pain and acidity due to irregular work and lifestyle. When the stomach hurts, they often break out in a cold sweat and feel weak. Stomach pain is usually caused by gastritis and gastric ulcers. Today, let's understand the main symptoms of gastritis.

Gastritis is generally divided into two types: acute gastritis and chronic gastritis.

1. Acute Gastritis

1. Sudden onset, upper abdominal pain, often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and decreased appetite.

2. Severe cases may have fever, dehydration, and even upper gastrointestinal bleeding.

3. History of eating contaminated food or taking food or medication that irritates the stomach.

4. Physical examination may reveal tenderness in the upper abdomen or around the navel, increased bowel sounds, etc.

Patients with acute gastritis often experience a sudden onset of symptoms. They may feel a dull pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen, where the stomach is located. They may also experience bloating. Nausea and vomiting may accompany these symptoms. Some acute gastritis patients may have black stools, known as melena, or vomit blood, indicating symptoms of gastrointestinal bleeding. If the bleeding is significant, they should be taken to the hospital immediately.

2. Chronic Gastritis

1. Slow onset, often with discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen after eating, often in irregular intermittent or persistent pain.

2. May be accompanied by loss of appetite or aversion to food, nausea, vomiting, bloating, belching.

3. May experience weight loss, fatigue, diarrhea, anemia, etc.

4. Examination may reveal slight tenderness in the upper abdomen, pale skin and mucous membranes, etc.

Patients with chronic gastritis may have varying symptoms. They may not feel any discomfort at all or only experience indigestion, nausea, vomiting, or mild stomach pain.

Whether it is acute gastritis or chronic gastritis, the pain is unbearable. Therefore, when you have these symptoms, it is best to seek medical attention promptly.
