Natural Remedies for Frostbite: Sesame Leaves, Watermelon Rind, and More

December 21, 2023

Sesame Leaves

Take a suitable amount of fresh sesame leaves and rub them on the frostbitten area for about 20 minutes, allowing the juice to stay on the skin. After 1 hour, wash it off. Repeat once daily for 7-10 days.

Watermelon Rind

When eating watermelon, leave a thicker layer of the rind, forming a slightly red appearance. Gently rub the frostbitten area with it for 3 minutes each time, once daily for 10 consecutive days.

Red Chili Pepper

Take 10 grams of red chili pepper, remove the seeds and chop it. Soak it in 60 ml of white wine for 7 days, then add 3 grams of camphor and shake well. Use a disinfectant cotton swab to apply the solution to the frostbitten area, twice daily for 1 week. Alternatively, seal the chili pepper in white wine for a week, then apply it to the frostbitten area. This method has good anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-itch effects on existing frostbite.

Fresh Ginger

Take 60 grams of fresh ginger, mash it, and add 100 ml of white wine. Let it soak for 3 days. Use a disinfectant cotton swab to apply the solution to the frostbitten area, twice daily for 1 week. For recurring frostbite, apply fresh ginger slices to the skin for several days to prevent recurrence. If frostbite has occurred, heat fresh ginger juice until it becomes a paste, let it cool, and apply it to the frostbitten area twice daily for 3 consecutive days for effective results.

Eggplant Roots

Take 60 grams of white eggplant roots and 10 grams of Sichuan pepper. Boil them in water and use the steam to wash the areas prone to frostbite, once daily for 10-30 minutes, 1 dose per day, for 1 week. Alternatively, wash the affected areas with a concentrated soup made from equal amounts of Chinese cabbage and eggplant roots, morning and evening.

White Radish

Slice the radish and heat it with an electric stove or charcoal fire until it becomes soft. Apply it to the frostbitten area and continue heating it at a comfortable distance and temperature until there is an itchy sensation in the frostbitten area.

Fresh Hawthorn

Place one hawthorn on a stove and heat it until it becomes soft. After it cools slightly, rub it into a paste and apply it to the affected area. At the same time, place the affected limb above the stove and gently massage the affected area while applying the paste until it dries. Wash off the paste. Treat the frostbite 3-5 times daily.

Choose one of the above methods and use it continuously for 5-7 days to effectively prevent frostbite or alleviate its symptoms.
