Traditional Chinese medicine believes that saliva is closely related to the health of the kidneys, and there is a saying "saliva is the essence of the kidneys". Therefore, the elderly should practice rinsing therapy regularly. Every morning after washing up, sit quietly in a quiet room with eyes closed for a moment. First, tap the teeth 36 times, then stir the saliva in the mouth with the tongue. When the mouth is full of saliva, swallow it in 3 portions and send it to the lower abdomen using intention. Then slowly exhale the air from the mouth, keeping the lips slightly open but without making any sound. Repeat this process 36 times, pause for a moment, and clench the fists 3 times with both hands, left and right. If the elderly do this once in the morning and once in the evening, it will be beneficial for preventing autumn dryness.
In addition, the elderly should go to bed and get up early, in order to gather the essence of the spirit and maintain the lung's function of clearing away heat. This helps resist the invasion of dryness.
