Smoking is often seen as just a personal habit, but it is actually a tobacco addiction disease. There are various methods to quit smoking, and using some tips during the tedious quitting process may make your journey to quit smoking smoother.
1. Stick a photo of yourself with dull skin color and yellow teeth on the small mirror you carry. Seeing it may make your hand hesitate to smoke.
2. Put the money you would spend on cigarettes into a piggy bank. Use this money to reward yourself after one day, one month, or one year. Buy yourself a nice outfit, buy some luxury items, or change your lifestyle to enjoy life.
3. Find something (besides food) to occupy your hands. Try doing something during leisure time, such as making handicrafts, doing home repairs, gardening, or even playing crossword puzzles.
4. Get rid of negative thoughts. Imagine how much better your life will be without tobacco and don't focus on how difficult it is to quit smoking.
5. Collect all your cigarette butts in a transparent glass jar and look at it every day to cultivate your disgust for smoking.
6. Don't carry tobacco and its accessories, and keep them in a hard-to-reach place. Dispose of all tobacco, lighters, and other smoking paraphernalia. Create a clean and smoke-free environment at home and at work.
7. Choose smoke-free environments. Enjoy outdoor activities or go to places where smoking is prohibited, such as libraries, museums, cinemas, shops, or churches. When dining out, try to sit in the non-smoking area of restaurants.
8. Visit a dentist to remove the stains left by smoking and keep your teeth white.
