Protecting Your Health: Tips for Pregnant Women Using Computers

December 18, 2023

Computer sickness is something that every working woman should be cautious of, especially during pregnancy. So, what should pregnant women pay attention to when using a computer?

1. Pregnant women should not spend more than 20 hours a week on the computer.

To prevent pelvic blood stagnation caused by long periods of sitting, it is important to find a balance between being active and resting. Pay attention to the height of the computer and chair to ensure the healthy development of the fetus.

2. Take breaks to prevent muscle strain.

Long hours of computer use can cause pain and discomfort in the fingers, wrists, arms, shoulders, neck, and back. Pregnant women should take a 10-minute break every hour or do some exercises.

3. Pay attention to eye health.

The distance between the eyes and documents or screens should be more than 50 centimeters, preferably at a 20-degree angle below the light source. During work, apply radiation protection cream to the face and hands.

4. Pregnant women who work with computers for a long time

Should eat more fresh vegetables and fruits to ensure intake of vitamins A, B1, C, and E. To prevent dry corneas, dry eyes, decreased vision, and even night blindness, pregnant women who use computers should consume foods rich in vitamin A, such as soy products, fish, milk, walnuts, greens, cabbage, tomatoes, water spinach, and fresh fruits. Vitamin C can effectively inhibit cell oxidation. Vitamin E mainly functions to lower cholesterol, remove body waste, and prevent cataracts. Walnuts and peanuts are rich in vitamin E. Vitamin B1 strengthens the nutrition of nerve cells and relieves nervous tension.

5. Drink green tea every day.

The polysaccharides in tea leaves can improve the body's hematopoietic function. After consuming polysaccharides, the body's non-specific immune system can be enhanced in a short period. Tea leaves can also protect against radiation damage.

6. To avoid glare or unclear screens

The computer should not be placed opposite or behind a window. The lighting in the environment should be soft, and if there is a window behind the operator, the curtains should be closed to avoid direct light shining on the screen, causing eye fatigue.

7. The computer room should be well-ventilated.

Install a ventilation fan or air conditioner indoors to reduce the impact of brominated biphenyl on the body. The dust density near the computer is hundreds of times higher than in other spaces, and prolonged exposure can lead to various skin diseases. The computer room should be kept clean, and the computer should be cleaned regularly.

8. The average person blinks less than 5 times per minute, causing dry eyes.

When working on a computer, a person blinks only one-third of their usual rate, which reduces the secretion of lubricants and enzymes in the eyes. It is important to blink more frequently and rest the eyes at least once every hour.
