Taking Care of Pregnancy After Miscarriage: Six Essential Points

December 17, 2023

Women with a history of miscarriage who become pregnant again should take care of their pregnancy by following these six points:

1. Maintain a regular lifestyle: Maintain a balanced daily routine. For example, breathe fresh air in the morning and engage in appropriate physical activities. Make sure to get 8 hours of sleep each day and consider taking a nap if possible. Avoid being too sedentary or too strenuous. Sedentary lifestyles can cause difficult labor, while strenuous activities can lead to miscarriage. Develop a regular bowel movement habit to ensure regular and smooth bowel movements, but avoid using laxatives.

2. Pay attention to personal hygiene: Change clothes frequently and take regular showers, but avoid soaking in bathtubs or swimming. Pay special attention to keeping the genital area clean to prevent bacterial infections. Wear loose-fitting clothes and avoid tight belts. Wear flat shoes on a regular basis.

3. Choose appropriate diet: Choose easily digestible foods, especially those rich in vitamins and trace elements, such as various vegetables, fruits, beans, eggs, and meats. If you have a weak stomach or intestines, avoid consuming cold foods, such as green beans, white fungus, and lotus seeds. If you have a yin deficiency and excessive internal heat, avoid consuming hot foods, such as rooster meat, beef, dog meat, and carp.

There are many folk remedies that are effective in preventing habitual and threatened miscarriage. Here are two examples: (1) Cook 50 grams of lotus seeds and 50 grams of longan meat in a slow fire, and then add 100 grams of yam powder to make porridge. Start consuming it after becoming pregnant, once a day. It is suitable for women with a history of habitual miscarriage who experience vaginal bleeding, lower abdominal pain, lumbosacral soreness, and a pale tongue with a white coating. (2) Take 3 pumpkin stems and 6 lotus stems, roast them until they turn yellow, grind them into powder, and take in three doses with rice soup in one day. It is suitable for women who experience fetal movement abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding with bright red color, red face, dry mouth, irritability, and short and red urine, indicating threatened miscarriage caused by blood heat.

4. Maintain a relaxed mood: Researchers in obstetrics and gynecology believe that natural miscarriage is caused by excessive excitement of the central nervous system in pregnant women. Experiments have shown that the functional state of the nervous system plays a decisive role in miscarriage. Therefore, it is important to maintain a relaxed mood during pregnancy, avoid various stimuli, and use various methods to eliminate tension, boredom, and fear, in order to regulate emotions.

5. Be cautious with sexual activity: Women with a history of habitual miscarriage should abstain from sexual activity within the first three months of pregnancy and after seven months of pregnancy.

6. Regular prenatal check-ups: Regular prenatal check-ups should start in the middle of pregnancy to allow doctors to detect and treat any abnormalities in a timely manner and provide guidance for prenatal care.
