Understanding Breast Hyperplasia: Causes, Symptoms, and Natural Remedies

February 23, 2024

Breast tenderness may be a symptom of breast hyperplasia, which is related to hormonal imbalances.

Excessive estrogen is the main cause of breast hyperplasia and other breast diseases, and it is associated with the following factors:

Emotional instability, frequent anger or irritability, long-term tension or depression, excessive sorrow or severe mental trauma;

Unhealthy eating habits, preference for high-fat, high-sugar, low-vegetable diet or overeating, leading to increased free radicals in the body, increased estrogen concentration, habitual constipation leading to the accumulation of impurities in the body and hindered circulation of qi and blood;

Long-term staying up late for women can reduce melatonin and increase estrogen, making them more susceptible to this disease;

Wearing tight bras or sleeping on the stomach obstructs the normal circulation of blood and lymph fluid in the breasts, causing the milk ducts to become blocked;

Not breastfeeding after childbirth according to international recommendations, infants under 6 months of age should be exclusively breastfed. After childbirth, nipple retraction or enlargement, mastitis, or unwillingness to breastfeed can all cause milk stasis and induce this disease;

Extrabreast diseases, such as hepatitis B patients, may also have breast hyperplasia as one of their extrahepatic manifestations;

Lack of exercise makes it difficult to consume excess fat in the body. Estrogen is fat-soluble and its production requires fat. The more fat there is, the more estrogen is produced.

In addition, women who are obese, take contraceptives or use topical estrogen, or have gynecological diseases are also prone to breast hyperplasia.

In clinical practice, the commonly used herbal formula is "Milk Stasis Decoction plus Modified": 10g of white thistle, 6g of vinegar-fried bupleurum, 6g of prepared aconite, 6g of privet fruit, 6g of turmeric, 6g of dried tangerine peel, 6g of bitter orange, 6g of cinnamon, 6g of Corydalis yanhusuo. Boil with water and take orally, once daily, divided into two doses in the morning and evening.

Patients are advised to maintain a positive mindset, have a balanced diet, maintain regular bowel movements, and engage in appropriate physical exercise.
