After the age of 40, you start to notice some changes in yourself. Maybe these changes are small, like feeling muscle soreness until Tuesday after playing a game on the weekend. Or maybe the changes are more noticeable, like thinning teeth, a growing belly, squinting eyes, difficulty hearing, getting out of breath quickly during exercise, and experiencing a decline in sexual performance.
However, this doesn't mean that you are doomed to age rapidly. It all depends on how you take care of your body. By taking care of your teeth, nurturing your mood, and maintaining a healthy sex life, you'll find that men can feel younger even after turning 40.
But just at the age of 40, you start experiencing unbearable back pain after finishing a research paper or lifting a few boxes.
At this point, the doctor will tell you that the primary age for back pain in most men is between 30 and 45 years old. This is the age when inflammation and natural degeneration of the back joints begin, and muscle injuries are the most common cause of back pain. Fortunately, back pain can often be relieved without medication or surgery. The key is to use preventive methods to avoid back pain.
Give your back some rest
When sitting, the pressure on your back is greater than when standing. Therefore, if you have to sit at a desk or travel by plane or train for a long time, try to change positions frequently. Stand up once every hour and walk around to give your back some relief.
Kneel instead of bending
Avoid bending over to pick up things as it strains your back and increases the risk of injury. If you need to do tasks that require bending, use tools with long handles or place the work on a higher surface to operate.
Use your legs more
When lifting objects, regardless of their weight, use the following safe posture: bend your knees, keep your back straight, and use the strength of your legs to pick up things. The leg muscles are much stronger than the back muscles, so using your legs can help prevent back injuries. Also, if you're unsure about the weight of an object, try pushing it first. If it's too heavy, don't be afraid to ask for help.
Wear loose clothing
Tight-fitting pants can hinder your movements, especially when bending your knees or performing other actions like lifting. So, when you need to bend down or lift something, make sure to wear loose clothing.
Vary your positions to prevent varicose veins
Men often overlook the appearance of varicose veins, primarily because the thick leg hair hides them. However, it is an undeniable fact that 10% to 15% of men experience varicose veins to some degree after the age of 40. Therefore, it's important to make efforts to prevent their occurrence.
Lose weight
If you are overweight, a gradual and healthy weight loss plan is necessary.
Eat fiber-rich foods
Your diet should include plenty of fiber to maintain a healthy digestive system and prevent constipation-induced stress.
Quit smoking
Smoking increases the risk of developing potential venous diseases, which can further develop into varicose veins.
Vary your positions while working
Avoid sitting for consecutive hours while working. Stand up and walk around frequently. People who spend 5 hours or more sitting or standing in a day have a higher incidence of varicose veins.
