A survey shows that the incidence of prostate cancer among European and American men is much higher than that in China and Japan, which is attributed to different races. However, increasing evidence suggests that the difference in dietary structure between East and West is the key factor, and the secret to avoiding prostate cancer is to eat less red meat and more beans and vegetables. This is also a good warning for Chinese men who are increasingly fond of eating large amounts of meat and fish.
Danger of red meat
The incidence of prostate diseases is related to the intake of male hormones, fats, cholesterol, and lifestyle of men, with dietary habits being the most crucial factor. For example, in China, the probability of men suffering from prostate cancer does not exceed one in 100,000, while in Germany, the incidence of prostate cancer is nearly 25 times higher than in China. However, Chinese immigrants in Germany gradually lose this advantage.
A survey conducted in the United States also found that ethnic groups with lower intake of fats in their diet have a relatively lower incidence of prostate cancer, with a difference of up to 20 times.
Among the surveyed populations, Japanese people have the lowest incidence of prostate cancer. However, this advantage gradually disappears among first-generation Japanese immigrants to the United States, and by the third generation, the incidence of prostate cancer is no different from that of Americans.
High-fat foods in Western diets increase the likelihood of prostate cancer. In Germany, people cannot do without meat for three meals a day: pork slices sandwich for breakfast, diced meat pizza for lunch, and steak set meal for dinner. Red meat with a bloody taste is the most dangerous, while the fat content in the white meat commonly consumed by Asians, such as fish, chicken, and rabbit, is relatively low. These meats also contain vitamin E, which can reduce the incidence of prostate cancer. In addition, the spicy seasoning pepper commonly used by Westerners can "ignite the fire" and cause congestion in the pelvic region, increasing pressure on the prostate.
