Gastrointestinal diseases refer to a group of diseases related to the stomach. They have similar symptoms, such as discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen, bloating after meals, belching, acid reflux, and even nausea and vomiting. Common gastrointestinal diseases include acute gastritis, chronic gastritis, gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, combined gastric-duodenal ulcers, gastric polyps, gastric stones, benign and malignant tumors of the stomach, as well as gastric mucosal prolapse, acute gastric dilation, and pyloric obstruction, etc.
The most common symptoms include discomfort or pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. The symptoms of gastritis and duodenal ulcers are burning pain in the upper abdomen, especially between meals, before breakfast, or after drinking orange juice or coffee. Severe cases may have black or bloody stools.
Family massage can also help treat gastritis and functional gastrointestinal disorders.
The method of operation is as follows:
Forehead rubbing method: The patient lies supine. The family member places the palms of both thumbs on the center of the forehead and rubs gently outward for about 2 minutes. Then, with both palms together, place them between the temples and forehead, about an inch behind the eyebrows and outer corners of the eyes, and rub back and forth for about 2 minutes.
Lifting and pressing method: The patient lies supine. The family member places the thumbs and the other four fingers under the patient's abdomen, and exerts force to lift and press, with continuous, gentle, and moderate force. The appropriate intensity is when the patient feels sourness, slight pain during lifting, and comfort after relaxation. Repeat lifting and pressing 5-7 times.
Acupressure method: The patient lies supine. The family member uses the thumb or middle finger to press firmly on the Zhongwan, Qihai, Tianshu acupoints, and the Zusanli acupoint. Press each acupoint for about half a minute, gradually increasing the force, until the patient feels slight sourness and numbness.
Spinal kneading method: The patient lies prone with the back exposed and muscles relaxed. The family member bends both hands naturally into loose fists, with the thumbs extended on the fist eye, and the index and middle fingers horizontally against the patient's tailbone. Alternate both hands along the Governing Vessel line, pushing towards the patient's neck, kneading while pushing, until the 7th cervical vertebra. Repeat this process three times. During the kneading, lift slightly upwards every three kneading motions. If you hear a crisp sound of "click", it means the kneading is done correctly. This method helps regulate organ functions.
Prevention:
1. First, establish regular eating habits. Secondly, pay attention to food hygiene. Thirdly, avoid or reduce the consumption of foods that can irritate the stomach. Finally, maintain a happy mindset.
2. Limit alcohol consumption, avoid overeating, and use caution or avoid using drugs that may damage the gastric mucosa. Acute simple gastritis should be treated promptly, and after recovery, steps should be taken to prevent recurrence to avoid it turning into chronic gastritis and becoming prolonged.
3. Engage in traditional exercises. Practice the "single-arm lift for regulating the spleen and stomach" in the Eight Section Brocade and the "bear exercise" in the Five Animal Frolics on a regular basis, as they have certain effects on enhancing spleen and stomach functions.
4. Maintain a happy mood.
