1. Fake combing: Refreshing and clearing the meridians. Dr. Chen Yusheng, Chief Physician of the Department of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at Chang Gung Hospital in Linkou, Taiwan, said that fake combing is using hands instead of a comb to comb the hair. Bend the fingers of both hands into a claw shape, lightly touch the scalp with the fingertips, push from the forehead along the top of the head to the back of the head, and then push from the top of the head to the temporal side near the ears. It doesn't require much force, and repeat this process 40-50 times to create a warm and tingly sensation in the head.

2. Drumming the sky drum: Prevent tinnitus and protect hearing. Dr. Guo Weijun, Chief Physician of the Department of Chinese Medicine at Taipei City Hospital, Heping Branch, said that when experiencing headache, you can massage the Tianzhu acupoint by drumming the sky drum. Sit upright, with your elbows able to rest on the table, and place your palms tightly against your ears with your fingers spread open. Use your index fingers to press down on your middle fingers and lightly tap the back of the head 10 times to create a "thud" sound. Drumming the sky drum can help refresh the mind, enhance memory, strengthen hearing, and prevent ear diseases.

3. Pressing the temples: Relieve pain and invigorate the mind. Dr. Wen Chongkai, Director of the Taipei Chinese Medicine Clinic, said that you can use the tips of the index fingers of both hands to massage the temples in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction for 10-15 times.

4. Pushing and accumulating bamboo: Calm the mind and relieve cold symptoms. Use the bent joint of the thumb to alternately tap the bilateral Zan Zhu acupoints about 15-20 times until a slight soreness is felt.

Attachment: Hot compress method helps the elderly maintain good hearing, vision, and brain health

Hot compress is one of the external treatment methods in Chinese medicine. The method is to soak a towel or clean cloth in hot water (or medicinal solution), gently wring out the water, and cover it on the affected area. It has a good therapeutic effect on pain caused by cold and dampness, stagnation of Qi and blood stasis, etc. The elderly often use hot compress on the head, which can also have preventive and health benefits.

1. Eye protection: Put the towel into slightly hot water, soak and fold it. Then place it over the closed eyes and gently rub the eyes with your hands on the towel. When the towel cools slightly, re-soak it in hot water and continue to compress and rub. Keep breathing naturally and relax during the process. Repeat 3-5 times each time, 1-2 times a day. It can relieve fatigue and protect eyesight, and also has an effect on preventing presbyopia and myopia.

2. Hearing improvement: Use a towel soaked in hot water (tolerable to the touch) to cover the ears, starting with either the left or right ear. Alternate between the ears for 3-5 times each time, 1-2 times a day. This can increase the blood flow to the ears and prevent ear diseases and common hearing loss in the elderly.

3. Brain health: Place a hot towel (same method as above) on the back of the head (on both sides of the occipital bone, commonly known as the "back door of the brain"). You can either compress both sides at the same time or alternate between the left and right sides. Repeat 4-8 times each time, 1-2 times a day. It can promote brain health, improve reaction and thinking abilities, and has certain preventive and therapeutic effects on common dizziness and hypertension in the elderly.

When applying hot compress, the temperature should not be too high, and it should be tolerable for the face. Hot compress should be performed for a long period of time, ranging from 3 months to 1 year to achieve satisfactory results.
