Acupressure Techniques Finger Pressure Using the thumb or fingertips to apply pressure on the body is called finger pressure. This method can be combined with kneading techniques in clinical practice. Technique: 1. The pressure should be applied vertically downwards. 2. The force should start from light and gradually increase, remaining steady and continuous, to fully stimulate the deep tissues of the body. Avoid using sudden and violent force. 3. When ending the finger pressure, it should be gradually released, reducing the pressure gradually. Applicable Areas: Various acupoints on the body. Example: For stomach pain, apply finger pressure on the acupoints of the spleen, stomach, or sensitive points along the spine for 1-2 minutes each. Palm Pressure Using the palm or the base of the palm to apply pressure on the body surface is called palm pressure. It can be done with a single palm or with both palms crossing and overlapping each other. It can also be combined with kneading techniques. Technique: 1. After applying pressure, pause for a moment before repeating the pressure. 2. To increase the pressure, extend the elbows, lean the body slightly forward, and use part of the body weight to press down. Applicable Areas: Large and flat areas of the body, such as the lower back and abdomen. Benefits: Loosens the tendons, warms the middle, promotes blood circulation, and dispels stasis.
