Liver Massage Therapy: Soothe the Liver, Regulate Qi, and Promote Overall Well-being

Liver massage therapy has the functions of soothing the liver and regulating qi, calming the mind, relaxing the tendons and promoting blood circulation, nourishing the blood and improving eyesight, and preventing and treating liver, stomach diseases, and depression. Method: ① Push the chest and abdomen. Place both palms parallel to each other and push down from the upper edge of the sternum to the abdomen several times. ② Rub the Yu-men, Qi-men, and Zhang-men acupoints. Use the thumb to rub the Yu-men acupoint 6 inches above the navel, and open the Yu-men acupoint 0.5 inches to the side; open the Qi-men acupoint 4 inches to the side of the midline, between the sixth rib interspace, and directly below the nipple; Zhang-men acupoint is located on the midline of the axilla, at the end of the eleventh rib, and is massaged for 1-2 minutes each. ③ Rub the three abdomen regions. Use the palms to rub the upper, middle, and lower abdomen for 1-2 minutes each. ④ Rub the rib cage. Rub and rub the sides of the rib cage from under the armpits to the navel area more than 10 times. ⑤ Rub and push the liver shu and spleen shu points. Use both thumbs to rub and push the liver shu and spleen shu points located 1.5 inches away from the 9th and 11th thoracic spinous processes for 1 minute each, and push several times. ⑥ Push and rub the lower limbs. Along the gallbladder meridian of the lower limbs, push from top to bottom on the outer side of both feet more than 10 times, and rub along the liver meridian on the inner side of the lower limbs more than 10 times. ⑦ Point the Jin'suo and Ququan acupoints. Use the thumb to press the Jin'suo acupoint located below the concavity of the 9th thoracic spinous process, the horizontal line on the inner side of the bent knee, the back of the tibial medial condyle, and the Ququan acupoint in front of the semimembranosus and semitendinosus muscles for 1 minute each. ⑧ Grasp the shoulder well. Use four fingers to grasp the large tendons on both sides of the shoulders several times.
