Improving Eye Health: Effective Massage Techniques for Glaucoma Prevention

December 13, 2023

Massage the eyelids: Use the pad of your thumb to massage the upper eyelid and the pad of your index finger to massage the lower eyelid. Massage from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner, as if gently outlining the contour of the eye.

Massage each spot for 5 seconds, and then lift your fingertips off the skin. Do this twice a day, preferably when you have time and before bedtime.

Pay attention to pressing on the edge of the eye socket bone, and avoid pressing or poking the eyeball. The massage should be done with a gentle force that does not cause pain. This method can improve not only glaucoma but also cataracts and dry eye disease.

Massage acupoints: Focus on the "Jingming", "Chengqi", and "Hegu" acupoints.

"Jingming" is located 0.1 inch above the inner corner of the eye.

"Chengqi" is located directly below the eyeball, near the orbital bone.

"Hegu" is located on the back of the hand.

It is located at the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone, on the thumb side, also known as the tiger's mouth.

Use the pad of your index finger or thumb to massage the "Jingming" and "Chengqi" acupoints, and use the tip of your other thumb to press firmly on the "Hegu" acupoint. The time spent on each acupoint is equivalent to counting slowly to five. By regularly massaging these acupoints, you can prevent and improve glaucoma.
