Common Massage Acupoints: Stimulating the Body's Energy Pathways

Massage often involves stimulating acupuncture points along the meridians. Only by understanding the various acupoints on the human body can the therapeutic effects of massage be truly achieved. The following are some common massage acupoints.

1. Baihui (Hundred Meetings): Located at the center of the head, where a line connects the tops of the ears, it is an acupoint on the Du meridian.

2. Yintang (Hall of Impression): Located between the eyebrows, it is an extraordinary acupoint.

3. Taiyang (Sun): Located between the tip of the eyebrows and the outer corner of the eye, one finger-width away, it is an extraordinary acupoint.

4. Jingming (Bright Eyes): Located one inch above the inner corner of the eye, it is an acupoint on the Foot Taiyang Bladder meridian.

5. Zanzhu (Gather Bamboo): Located in the depression on the inner side of the eyebrow, it is an acupoint on the Foot Taiyang Bladder meridian.

6. Sibai (Four Whites): Located about one inch below the eyes, it is an acupoint on the Foot Yangming Stomach meridian.

7. Tinggong (Listening Palace): Located in front of the tragus of the ear, it is an acupoint on the Hand Taiyang Small Intestine meridian.

8. Tinghui (Listening Convergence): Located in the depression between the earlobe and the anterior hairline, it is an acupoint on the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder meridian.

9. Yifeng (Wind Screen): Located in the depression behind the earlobe, it is an acupoint on the Hand Shaoyang Sanjiao meridian.

10. Yingxiang (Welcome Fragrance): Located above the nasolabial groove, it is an acupoint on the Hand Yangming Large Intestine meridian.

11. Renzhong (Philtrum): Located one-third of the way down the philtrum, it is an acupoint on the Ren meridian.

12. Chize (Cubit Marsh): Located on the radial side of the elbow crease, on the depression of the lateral side of the biceps brachii tendon, it is an acupoint on the Hand Taiyin Lung meridian.

13. Quchi (Crooked Pool): Located at the depression where the lateral epicondyle of the humerus and the head of the radius meet when the elbow is flexed, it is an acupoint on the Hand Yangming Large Intestine meridian.

14. Shousanli (Arm Three Miles): Located about two inches below the elbow crease, between the extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis tendons, it is an acupoint on the Hand Yangming Large Intestine meridian.

15. Lieque (Broken Sequence): Located on the palmar side of the forearm, about one inch and five fen from the transverse crease, it is an acupoint on the Hand Taiyin Lung meridian.

16. Hegu (Joining Valley): Located in the depression between the first and second metacarpal bones, on the ulnar side, it is an acupoint on the Hand Yangming Large Intestine meridian.

17. Yangchi (Pool of Yang): Located on the dorsal side of the wrist, at the depression between the radial styloid process and the scaphoid bone, where the tendon of the extensor digitorum longus on the radial side extends, it is an acupoint on the Hand Shaoyang Sanjiao meridian.

18. Shenmen (Spirit Gate): Located between the ulnar styloid process and the pisiform bone on the back of the hand, at the end of the transverse crease of the wrist, it is an acupoint on the Hand Shaoyin Heart meridian.

19. Zhongfu (Central Mansion): Located above the clavicle, one inch below, it is an acupoint on the Hand Taiyin Lung meridian.

20. Shenxuan (Spirit Gate): Located at the navel, it is an acupoint on the Ren meridian.

21. Qihai (Sea of Qi): Located 1.5 cun below the navel, it is an acupoint on the Ren meridian.

22. Guanyuan (Gate of Origin): Located three cun below the navel, it is an acupoint on the Ren meridian.

23. Feishu (Lung Transport): Located 1.5 cun beside the lower border of the third thoracic vertebrae, it is an acupoint on the Foot Taiyang Bladder meridian.

24. Xinshu (Heart Transport): Located 1.5 cun beside the lower border of the fifth thoracic vertebrae, it is an acupoint on the Foot Taiyang Bladder meridian.

25. Ge Shu (Diaphragm Transport): Located 1.5 cun beside the lower border of the seventh thoracic vertebrae, it is an acupoint on the Foot Taiyang Bladder meridian.

26. Ganshu (Liver Transport): Located 1.5 cun beside the lower border of the ninth thoracic vertebrae, it is an acupoint on the Foot Taiyang Bladder meridian.

27. Danshu (Gallbladder Transport): Located 1.5 cun beside the lower border of the tenth thoracic vertebrae, it is an acupoint on the Foot Taiyang Bladder meridian.
