Unlocking Oral Health: The Power of Massage Therapy

December 3, 2023

Oral massage therapy has the functions of promoting overall health, nourishing the five organs, strengthening teeth, and enhancing kidney function. It helps prevent and treat loose teeth, gingival atrophy, and tongue papilla atrophy, and also stimulates salivary gland secretion and aids digestion. The methods are as follows:

  1. Tooth tapping: Gently close the mouth and tap the upper and lower teeth together, starting with the premolars and then the molars for about 10 times.
  2. Swallowing saliva: Use the tip of the tongue to touch the teeth, gums, and upper and lower palate, and stir gently along the gum line until saliva is produced. Then swallow it down forcefully.
  3. Gum massage: Dip clean hands in a dilute saltwater solution and massage the upper and lower gums several times.
  4. Tongue scraping: Extend and retract the tongue, and use the upper teeth to scrape the surface of the tongue several times.
  5. Rubbing the Dicang acupoint: Use the thumb and index finger to press and rub the Dicang acupoint located 0.4 inches beside the corner of the mouth for 1 minute.
  6. Rubbing the Cheche acupoint: Use two fingers to press and rub the Cheche acupoint, which is located in a depression just above the lower corner of the jaw, for 1 minute while chewing.
