April 16, 2024

Many people have the habit of drinking a cup of tea to refresh their mind and wake up in the morning before starting their day. But do you know the proper way to brew tea? Maybe you think it's enough to just put some tea leaves and add hot water, but that's far from enough.

  [Benefits of Drinking Tea]

  1. Prevents diabetes and cardiovascular diseases

The Tang Dynasty's "Compendium of Materia Medica" mentioned that "long-term consumption makes one slim", and modern scientific research has confirmed this. The caffeine in tea can promote the secretion of gastric juice, help digestion, and enhance the body's ability to break down fats. Foreign studies have also shown that regular tea drinking can reduce waist circumference and lower body mass index (BMI), thus helping to prevent diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

  2. Increases muscle endurance

Research has found that tea contains an antioxidant called "catechins" which can increase the body's ability to burn fat, improve muscle endurance, and help fight fatigue, thus increasing the duration of physical exercise. Drinking green tea regularly has the most significant effect.

  3. Anti-aging

In normal life activities, harmful free radicals are constantly produced in the body due to metabolism. Free radicals are highly active and have strong oxidative ability, which can induce the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in the body and produce peroxidized lipids. Their production and accumulation can restrict and damage the normal function of biological membranes, affect the normal metabolism of active substances, and promote various diseases such as hepatitis, cancer, aging, and cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, removing harmful free radicals from the body is of utmost importance for maintaining human health.

Tea polyphenols have significant antioxidant ability due to their active chemical properties. They are easily oxidized into esters and provide proton hydrogen, so they have significant antioxidant ability. The antioxidant activity of catechin EGCG is at least 100 times that of vitamin C and 25 times that of vitamin E.

  [Tea Brewing Order]

  1. Pouring hot water into the teapot:

Before brewing tea, the teapot should be scalded with boiling water to remove any odor and to help evaporate the tea aroma.

  2. Warming the tea cups:

Pour hot water from the scalded teapot into the tea cups to warm them.

  3. Placing the tea leaves:

Generally, tea pots used for brewing tea have small openings. The tea leaves should be placed in the tea scoop first to appreciate their appearance, and then use the tea scoop to transfer the tea leaves into the teapot. The amount of tea leaves should be about one-third of the teapot.

  4. High brewing:

When brewing tea, a high pouring kettle is needed. Pour the water from a high point so that the tea leaves roll and spread in the teapot, allowing the tea flavor to be fully extracted. This is commonly known as "high brewing".

  5. Skimming off the foam:

Remove the layer of foam on top of the tea leaves, then cover the teapot and let it sit for a while.

  6. Low pouring:

Pour the brewed tea into the tea cup. It is better to keep the distance between the teapot spout and the tea cup low, so that the aroma in the tea soup can be effectively released. This is commonly known as "low pouring".

  6. Smelling the aroma:

Before tasting the tea, observe its color and smell its aroma to fully appreciate its taste.

  7. Tasting the tea:

First, hold the tea cup and bring the tea soup to the nose to smell the aroma. Then, hold the cup with the thumb and index finger, and support the bottom of the cup with the middle finger. Take a small sip of the tea, let it swirl on the tip of the tongue, and savor the lingering taste after swallowing.
