The Healing Power of Licorice: Treating Wind-Heat Cold with Licorice and Peppermint Tea

  When it comes to licorice, I believe everyone is familiar with it, especially when we have a cold and cough, we will eat a few pieces of licorice tablets, which have a good effect in clearing heat and stopping cough. Licorice is a traditional Chinese medicinal material, known as the "elder of the country" in Chinese medicine.    Treating Wind-Heat Cold Herbal Tea

   1. Licorice and Peppermint Tea

  Ingredients: 10g fresh peppermint leaves, 6g prince ginseng, 2g licorice, and appropriate amount of green tea.

  Method:

  1. Soak the peppermint, licorice, and prince ginseng in water to wash away the dust.

  2. Put the peppermint, licorice, prince ginseng, and green tea together in a cup and pour boiling water. Cover the cup with a lid.

  3. Let the tea steep for about 8-10 minutes before drinking. You can also filter out the licorice, peppermint, prince ginseng, and green tea and then drink.

  Efficacy:

  1. Peppermint: It has a cool taste and can dispel wind, heat, refresh the mind, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and promote digestion and spleen health. It is helpful for the throat.

  2. Licorice: It has a sweet taste and neutral nature. It can clear heat, detoxify, invigorate qi, nourish the middle, and relieve cough. It is effective in treating weakness of the spleen and stomach, poor appetite and fatigue, cough and asthma, and sore throat.

  3. Prince ginseng: It has the effect of tonifying the spleen and lungs, invigorating qi, and producing saliva. It can treat lung deficiency cough.

  4. Green tea: It can prevent cancer and radiation, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, whiten and antioxidize. It is very suitable for people with high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high blood lipids.

  5. Licorice and peppermint tea: It has the effects of clearing heat, relieving summer heat, inducing sweating, and moistening the lungs and throat. It can effectively relieve various discomfort symptoms of wind-heat cold.
 

 

   2. The Role of Licorice

  1. Used for asthma and cough.

  2. Used for abscesses, ulcers, and sore throat.

  3. Used for deficiency of heart qi, palpitations, irregular pulse, as well as deficiency of spleen and stomach qi, fatigue and weakness.

  4. Used for stomach pain, abdominal pain, and gastrocnemius muscle spasm pain.

  5. Used to reconcile the pungent nature of certain medicines. It is also commonly used to reconcile various medicines in many prescriptions.

  6. When used with soybeans, it has a detoxifying effect.

  7. Licorice is also widely used in the food industry, refined candies, preserved fruits, and chewing gum.
 

 

  When you have a wind-heat cold, have a cup of licorice and peppermint tea to easily deal with the cold.

  Warm Reminder: Licorice and peppermint tea is not suitable for those with wind-cold cold, pregnant women, and lactating women.
