However, they may not realize that there is a lot of expertise involved in drinking tea. In fact, many people do not pay much attention to the type of tea they drink and simply stick to their preferred taste. The truth is that everyone has a different constitution, and the type of tea that suits them may vary. Sometimes, without paying attention, one may end up drinking tea that is not suitable for their body.
Below are some considerations for drinking tea:
1. Balanced Constitution
A person with a healthy complexion, abundant energy, good diet, and sleep patterns, and fewer illnesses. They can drink any type of tea.
2. Qi Deficiency Constitution
A person who experiences shortness of breath, low voice, easy fatigue, susceptibility to colds, and wheezing when climbing stairs. They should drink ripe pu-erh tea, oolong tea, or Anji white tea which is rich in amino acids.
3. Yang Deficiency Constitution
A person who experiences cold hands and feet, enjoys eating hot foods, feels mentally tired, sleeps a lot, and has loose stools. They should drink black tea, dark tea, or heavily fermented oolong tea (rock tea). They should be cautious with green tea, especially steamed green tea.
4. Yin Deficiency Constitution
A person who experiences internal heat, intolerance to heat, dry mouth and throat, hot hands and feet, dry eyes, dry and hard stools, and constipation. They should drink lightly fermented oolong tea and can add goji berries, chrysanthemum, and cassia seeds to their tea.
5. Blood Stasis Constitution
A person with a dark complexion, dark lips, dark circles under the eyes, bloodshot eyes, easy gum bleeding, and dry and rough skin. They should be cautious with red tea, dark tea, and heavily fermented oolong tea, and should drink more green tea, yellow tea, and white tea.

6. Phlegm-Dampness Constitution
A person with a plump body, full and soft abdomen, easy sweating, oily face, phlegm in the throat, and thick tongue coating. They should drink lightly fermented oolong tea and can add goji berries, chrysanthemum, and cassia seeds to their tea. They can also drink various types of tea or add orange peel to their tea.
7. Damp-Heat Constitution
A person with internal damp-heat, always has oily skin and nose, prone to acne, itchy skin, and often feels bitter taste and bad breath. They can drink lightly fermented oolong tea and can add goji berries, chrysanthemum, and cassia seeds to their tea.
