Preventing and Treating Hypertension: The Therapeutic Effects of Herbal Tea

High blood pressure is becoming increasingly common among younger people. Hypertension often leads to headaches, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral atrophy, retinal bleeding, and vascular sclerosis, and has become a common and prevalent disease. Every year, about one million people die from cardiovascular diseases caused by hypertension. Drinking herbal tea can have certain therapeutic effects in preventing and treating hypertension.


  1. Hawthorn and Lotus Leaf Tea

Health Benefits:

Hawthorn: Relieves indigestion, promotes blood circulation, and regulates menstruation.

Lotus leaf: Relieves heat, clears heat, and stops bleeding.

Ingredients: 1 handful of hawthorn, 1 large bunch of lotus leaf, and some rock sugar.

Instructions:

1. Cut the lotus leaf into small pieces and wash them. Soak them in water for 20 minutes.

Lotus seeds, boiling water.

Instructions:

1. Take fresh lotus pods and peel off the lotus seeds, using scissors to avoid getting your hands sticky.

2. Select a few plump lotus seeds as the ingredients for lotus seed tea.

3. Remove the green skin to reveal the white lotus seed, split it in half, and pick out the lotus seed heart with a toothpick.

4. Put the removed lotus seed heart into a cup and set aside.

5. Brew with boiling water. It can also be chewed after drinking without fear of bitterness.

  3. Red Date and Goji Berry Tea

Health Benefits:

Red dates: Calms the mind, strengthens the spleen and stomach, and assists in lowering blood lipids.

Rock sugar: Invigorates the spleen, replenishes qi, and nourishes the blood.

Ingredients:

8 red dates, goji berries, rock sugar, boiling water.

Instructions:

1. Fry the red dates in a pot over low heat until they darken in color.

2. Wash the red dates and goji berries.

3. Put all the ingredients into a thermos, fill it with boiling water.

4. Cover the thermos and let it steep for two to three minutes.
