Warming Herbal Teas for Cold and Allergy Prevention

When the weather gets cold, many people start sneezing and having a runny nose, thinking it is a sign of a cold. However, it is actually a symptom of allergic rhinitis. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that treating nasal allergies requires warming and nourishing the lungs, spleen, and kidneys, and dispelling wind and removing evil. It is recommended that you can make some Chinese herbal teas to prevent colds and allergies.


1. Huangqi Guizhi Anti-allergy Tea

Ingredients: 2 grams of Huangqi, 1 gram of Guizhi, 1 gram of Fangguang Shen, 1 gram of Cangerzi, 3 slices of fresh ginger

Method: Wash the herbs, put them in a filter bag, place them in a thermos, pour in 600cc of boiling water, and let it steep for 20 minutes before drinking.

Effects: Enhances resistance, warms and nourishes the spleen and lungs, dispels wind and cold, and promotes nasal passage circulation.

Suitable for: Spleen and lung deficiency cold rhinitis, itchy nose, frequent sneezing, excessive clear nasal discharge, sensitivity to wind and cold, fatigue and laziness, etc.

2. Shigao Wuweizi Tea

Ingredients: 9 grams of almonds, 9 grams of fresh ginger, 20 grams of Shigao, 10 grams of Wuweizi, 5 grams of licorice, 4 jujubes, 12 grams of Mahuang, Guizhi, Zicao, Wumei, and Shiliupi. Boil them in water and drink once a day. Seven days is one course of treatment.

3. Citrus or Rosemary Tea

Brew 3 grams of citrus or rosemary tea with boiling water and drink it to improve nasal congestion and allergy symptoms.

4. Cangerzi Tea

Roast the raw Cangerzi and let it cool. Take 2 grams of Cangerzi, 2 grams of peppermint, and 2 grams of Xinyi flower. Brew them with boiling water and drink. It can prevent and alleviate symptoms of nasal congestion, sneezing, and runny nose.

5. Xinyi Flower Tea

Brew 4 grams of Xinyi flower and 4 grams of Perilla with boiling water and drink it. It can shrink the nasal mucosa and long-term use can prevent nasal allergies.
