Bitter Melon Tea, also known as Leaf of Chinese Holly or Leaf of Broadleaf Holly, is an evergreen tree of the Holly family. It is commonly found in the southwestern region of China (Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei) and the southern region (Jiangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan). Bitter Melon Tea is a natural health beverage that contains over 200 different components, including Bitter Melon saponins, amino acids, vitamin C, polyphenols, flavonoids, caffeine, and protein. The tea has a bitter taste followed by a cool and sweet flavor. 1. Blood Pressure-Lowering Tea
Ingredients: Bitter Melon Tea, chamomile flowers, mulberry leaves, white grass roots, and hook vine each 9 grams. Boil the ingredients to make tea. This tea helps to clear heat, relieve dizziness, and lower blood pressure. It can be used for hypertension, headaches, dizziness, and dry mouth and throat. For hypertension-related dizziness and restlessness, use 1.5 grams of lotus seed hearts and 9 grams of cassia seeds to make tea. For hypertension prevention and treatment, use 15 grams of watermelon peel (dried) and 9 grams of cassia seeds to make tea.
2. Dizziness-Relief Tea
Ingredients: Alisma orientale, atractylodes macrocephala each 9 grams, lotus leaf stems 5 pieces, chrysanthemum flowers 6 grams, and patchouli leaves 3 grams. Steep and brew the ingredients to make tea. This tea helps to dispel phlegm and dampness, and is used for dizziness, vomiting of phlegm saliva (obstruction of phlegm dampness), and feeling of heaviness and dizziness in the body.
3. Nephritis Tea
Ingredients: Corn silk, wax gourd peel (dried), and adzuki beans, appropriate amount. Boil the ingredients to make tea. This tea is used as an adjuvant treatment for edema and acute and chronic nephritis.
4. Orange Red Tea
Ingredients: One orange red, 4.5 grams of green tea. Steep the ingredients in boiling water, then steam in a boiling water pot for 20 minutes. This tea helps to relieve cough and dissolve phlegm. It is used for the elderly with cough and sticky phlegm that is difficult to expectorate.
5. Persimmon Leaf Tea
Fresh persimmon leaves harvested in June and July are washed and blanched in boiling water for about 10 minutes. Then they are taken out and dried in a shaded area or roasted in a pot over low heat.
