Tea: A Personalized Brew for Health and Well-being

Tea drinkers have different habits, preferences, studies, etiquette, desire to treat illnesses, and desire for physical fitness. Different choices of tea, different ways of drinking, and different quantities are based on these differences. However, it is important for everyone to understand the essence of tea, master basic brewing techniques, and drink tea scientifically in order to meet their own needs.

(I) Different Constitutions, Different Tea Choices

According to traditional Chinese medicine, people have different constitutions, such as dry-heat constitution and cold-deficiency constitution. People with a dry-heat constitution should drink cool teas, such as green tea, yellow tea, raw pu-erh tea, white tea, and some oolong teas. People with a cold-deficiency constitution should drink warm teas, such as black tea, ripe pu-erh tea, rock tea, and red tea. People who are overweight and have a hot body should drink cool teas. People who are overweight and have a weak body should drink warm teas. Apart from their slimming effects, these teas can also regulate the body's internal balance, but this is just a general rule.

People who smoke and drink excessively, have excessive internal heat, are overweight, should drink cool teas. People with gastrointestinal discomfort, poor sleep, poor digestion and absorption, and cold constitution should drink warm or hot teas. It is worth mentioning that elderly people and those in suboptimal health are more suitable for drinking red tea, ripe pu-erh tea, aged rock tea, and black tea. They can also add milk, sugar, ginger juice, or lemon juice to the tea, or brew the tea and drink it. Women who are experiencing premenstrual syndrome or menopause and have irritable moods can drink floral teas, which have the effect of soothing the liver, relieving depression, and regulating menstruation. People who consume a lot of beef and mutton can drink more fermented pressed teas, such as pu-erh tea and black tea, which help with the digestion of fatty foods. Young people who are in their developmental stage are advised to drink green tea.

(II) Tea Choices Based on Different Professions

People who work in front of computers frequently can choose green tea, yellow tea, white tea, oolong tea, and raw pu-erh tea as refreshing drinks. People who are frequently exposed to toxic substances can choose green tea as a protective drink. For mental workers, soldiers, drivers, athletes, singers, broadcasters, actors, etc., it is beneficial to drink tea for their respective needs and purposes.
