The Benefits of Scraping: An Ancient Chinese Therapy for Health Preservation

April 13, 2024

Nowadays, traditional Chinese medicine health preservation has become increasingly popular. Scraping therapy is an important technique in traditional Chinese medicine health preservation. Scraping not only helps us relieve insomnia but also helps regulate our qi. So, what are the benefits of scraping? Let our expert Zhang Tong tell us about it. Let's take a look together.

The video mainly introduces the following:

1. The role of scraping

1) Scraping around the eyes can improve vision.

If you frequently scrape around the eyes, it can help with eye health.

Speaking of scraping, I believe everyone is familiar with it because we have all done eye exercises and are familiar with several acupoints.

Using scraping instead of finger pressing can provide more effective stimulation to acupoints. Start by using a scraping comb to press the Jingming acupoint and then scrape from the Jingming acupoint to the outer corner of the eye in both the upper and lower eyelids.

Scraping can help improve meridians and relieve eye fatigue.

2) Scraping the soles of the feet can relieve insomnia.

Insomniacs can scrape the soles of their feet before going to bed at night to promote sleep and relieve headaches. Start by scraping the entire sole of the foot from the arch to the heel, and then use a single-angle scraping board to scrape the Yongquan acupoint in the center of the foot after it becomes warm.

3) Scraping the sternum can expand the chest and regulate qi.

Many people feel chest tightness and shortness of breath when they are in a bad mood or extremely tired. In this case, we can use a single-angle scraping comb to slowly scrape the lower half of the sternum from top to bottom.

This position contains the "Qihui" acupoint of the Renmai meridian, and stimulating this acupoint helps expand the chest and regulate qi. In addition, people who often have hiccups can also regularly scrape this area.

4) Scraping the hands and feet can promote qi circulation.

If women frequently experience cold hands and feet, scraping can help improve the condition.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the coldness of hands and feet in women is mainly related to inadequate yang energy or poor circulation of qi and blood.

It is recommended to first scrape the palms of the hands with the scraping board, and after the palms become warm, use the groove on the scraping board to scrape all sides of the fingers, from the base to the fingertips, scraping each direction 5 to 10 times to promote qi circulation. The same method can be applied to the feet.

5) Scraping the abdomen can promote bowel movements.

Long-term constipation not only affects digestion and absorption functions but also allows the body to absorb toxins. Use the face of the scraping board to scrape the abdomen from top to bottom, from left to right. It should be noted that if there is visceral prolapse, it should be scraped from bottom to top.

6) Scraping the neck can improve blood circulation and relax muscles.

If you feel discomfort in your neck and shoulders, it is likely due to the "occupational disease" caused by long-term desk work. Scraping can improve blood circulation and relax muscles, thereby alleviating local blood stasis.
