Scraping: An Effective Method to Combat Sub-Health Issues

February 9, 2024

Modern people face a lot of stress in their work and life, which can easily lead to a state of "sub-health". Many people experience symptoms such as insomnia, frequent fatigue, and back pain, but they may not realize that they are currently in a state of "sub-health". Even if they do realize it, they may not know what to do. Why not try the scraping method? It can have significant effects.

Insomnia

In traditional Chinese medicine, insomnia is classified as "sleeplessness" and is believed to be caused by the seven emotions, such as anger, worry, and fear, which disrupt the harmony between the heart and kidneys and cause liver-qi stagnation and fire. Scraping can nourish the heart and calm the mind, promote liver qi circulation, and relax the body and mind, thereby improving insomnia.

Scraping the head and neck:

1. Use a scraping board to scrape from the middle of the forehead to the hairline on both sides, using a gentle technique for 10-20 times. Use the corner of the scraping board to press and massage the Shenting, Touwei, Yintang, and Yuyao acupoints.

2. Scrape from the temples to the back of the head towards the mastoid process and Fengchi acupoints, 10-20 times on each side.

3. Start from the Baihui acupoint and scrape in the direction of the Four Shencong acupoints, 10-20 times in each direction.

4. Use the corner of the scraping board to press and massage the Fengchi and Anmian acupoints.

Scraping the back:

1. Use a straight-line technique to scrape the area along the Du meridian on the middle line of the spine, from Dazhui acupoint to Zhishi acupoint, 10-20 times.

2. Use a straight-line technique to scrape from Dazhui acupoint to Geshu acupoint, 20-30 times on each side, aiming for Sha formation.

3. Scrape the Shendao and Xinshu acupoints.

Scraping the limbs:

1. Use a straight-line technique to scrape the area along the Heart meridian on the inner side of the forearm, 10-20 times on each side, with a focus on the Shenmen acupoint.

2. Use a straight-line technique to scrape the area along the Spleen meridian on the inner side of the lower leg, from Yinlingquan to Sanyinjiao, 10-20 times on each side, and press and massage the Sanyinjiao acupoint.

Fatigue

In traditional Chinese medicine, fatigue is closely related to the imbalance of the five viscera. For example, lower back and leg fatigue is often related to the kidneys, shortness of breath and weakness are often related to the lungs, lack of endurance is often related to the liver, mental fatigue is often related to the heart, and physical fatigue is often related to the spleen. Therefore, treating fatigue in sub-health should focus on regulating the five viscera.

Scraping the head:

1. Use a scraping board to lightly scrape in the direction of the Four Shencong acupoints, 10-20 times in each direction. You can also use a combing technique with Baihui as the center, radiating outwards.

2. Use the corner of the scraping board to press and massage the Baihui, Taiyang, and Tianzhu acupoints, massaging each acupoint for 1-3 minutes.

3. Use a straight-line technique to scrape from Fengfu acupoint to Shencun acupoint, 10-20 times, with a focus on Dazhui acupoint.

4. Use a curved-line technique to scrape the Gallbladder meridian on the side of the neck, from Fengchi acupoint to Jianjing acupoint, 20-30 times on each side.

Scraping the back:

Use a straight-line technique to scrape the Bladder meridian on both sides of the spine, with a focus on the Xinshu, Pishu, Weishu, and Shenshu acupoints, 10-20 times on each side.

Scraping the limbs:

1. Use a straight-line technique to scrape the area along the Large Intestine meridian on the outer side of the forearm, focusing on Hegu, Quchi, and Shousanli acupoints. Use point pressure and massage techniques.

2. Use a straight-line technique to scrape the Neiguan acupoint on the Pericardium meridian, then scrape the Zusanli acupoint on the outer side of the lower leg along the Stomach meridian, and then the Xuehai and Sanyinjiao acupoints along the Spleen meridian, 10-20 times on each side.

Neck and shoulder pain

In traditional Chinese medicine, neck and shoulder pain is believed to be caused by stagnation of qi and blood in the neck and shoulder area. Scraping therapy can relax tendons, activate collaterals, promote blood circulation, and relieve stasis, allowing stiff muscles to relax and adjust sub-health conditions.

Scraping the neck and shoulders:

1. Use a straight-line technique to scrape the Du meridian, from Fengfu acupoint to Dazhui acupoint, and scrape the Bladder meridian, from Yuzhen to Dazhui, from the hairline, and from the spinous process downwards on both sides, 15-20 times on each side.

2. Use a curved-line technique to scrape the Gallbladder meridian on the outside of the foot, from Fengchi to Jianjing, passing through the Jianjing acupoint, 15-20 times on each side.

Scraping the back:

Use a straight-line technique to scrape the Bladder meridian on both sides of the spine, from Yuzhen through Dazhui, to Fengmen and Shenshu. Scrape the Zhongyu and Tianla acupoints to Gaomang and Tianzong, 15-20 times on each side.

Scraping the limbs:

1. Along the Large Intestine meridian on the hand, from Jianyu to Hegu, scrape 15-20 times. Use point pressure and massage techniques on Hegu acupoint.

2. Use a straight-line technique to scrape along the Stomach meridian on the foot, from Zusanli to Tiaokou, 15-20 times on each side.

You can try the above methods and bid farewell to "sub-health" as soon as possible!
