October 22, 2023

In order to develop abdominal muscles, many people choose to do sit-ups every day, believing that this is the most effective way to train their abs. But can sit-ups be done every day?

Can you do sit-ups every day?

It is not recommended to do sit-ups every day.

During the process of doing sit-ups, the abdominal muscles are heavily engaged. Prolonged training primarily improves the strength of the abdominal muscles, making them more developed. It is indeed an effective method to train the abs. However, abdominal muscle training does not need to be done with sit-ups every day. After the muscles in the abdomen are stimulated, they need at least 48 hours to grow and repair. Therefore, daily practice is not advisable.

How many sit-ups should be done in one day?

For beginners, it is recommended to start with fewer repetitions. It is best not to exceed 10 sit-ups each time. After completing one set of sit-ups, it is advisable to lie down or stand up and rest for at least 10 minutes, allowing the abdominal muscles to relax. Once you become more proficient, it is best to do 100-200 sit-ups each time, divided into sets of 20-30 repetitions. You should aim for at least 5 sets, as this will better train the abdominal muscles.

How often should sit-ups be done?

If you are training your muscles with sit-ups, it is best to do them every two to three days. During the process of doing sit-ups, the muscle fibers in the muscles will break, and muscle growth is based on the repair and strengthening of these minor tears. However, this repair and strengthening process requires at least 48 hours. Therefore, doing sit-ups every two to three days is recommended.

When is the best time to do sit-ups?

The body's hormones, strength, and various reactions are at their best around 4 PM. Therefore, it is best to do sit-ups during this time. However, many people are not available during this time. In that case, you can also choose to do sit-ups between 8 PM and 9 PM. Doing this exercise at this time can improve the quality of sleep. Another option is to do sit-ups approximately 2 hours after a meal, as this can help burn excess fat in the body and achieve weight loss goals.
