There are many different types of protein powders with different effects, which one is right for you? What type of protein should be eaten at what period of time, or which protein will assist you to achieve satisfactory results more quickly.

What is Whey Protein

Whey protein is one of the most commonly heard proteins and is also a good helper for fitness. It can be digested very quickly and provides a very good protein nutrient directly to the muscles. If you take 30 grams of whey protein on an empty stomach, the amino acids in your blood will peak in about an hour and stay there for three to four hours. Along with a quick protein supplement, it also replenishes amino acids, especially BCAAs, which are called branched chain amino acids in Chinese.

What are the types of whey protein

1. Whey Protein Concentrate.

Whey protein concentrate is the one we use more often and is the lowest cost one. The protein content is not always the same from brand to brand, but it usually contains more than 80% protein.

2. Isolated whey protein.

Isolated whey protein is further processed on the basis of whey protein concentrate, which usually contains more than 90% protein, high purity protein, and also higher price.

3. Hydrolyzed whey protein.

After hydrolysis, the components that may cause allergies are removed, and it is also more easily absorbed and suitable for more people.

What is casein

Casein is the main protein, a protein that combines calcium and phosphorus elements. Casein coagulates in low pH environments and then slowly breaks down and releases. Casein is also known as a slow-release protein, and it can be released for up to eight hours.

Types of casein

1. Calcium caseinate.

The casein of calcium caseinate is mainly used as a food ingredient because it has the lowest amount of casein.

2. micellar casein.

It is pure casein milk and is very expensive.

3. Isolated milk protein.

It is enriched with micellar casein and whey protein, and is also less expensive, making it one of the most preferred products by the consumer community.

When to take protein supplements

Whey protein is recommended to be consumed before and after a workout because it breaks down faster and contains BCAAs, which provide a continuous supply to the muscles during exercise. Casein is a slow-release protein and is best used before bedtime or between meals. It is not recommended to consume it after a workout, as the slow rate of decomposition is not conducive to the timely supply of protein to the muscles.

What kind of protein supplement should you choose?

Each type of protein has its own use and can be supplemented according to your needs. Different exercise periods and exercise purposes will affect the choice of protein, it is recommended to buy a variety of protein powder, according to their own situation with the use, the effect will be more excellent.
