Precautions for practicing yoga

April 2, 2023
Many people are practicing yoga, but in fact it is important to make the right choice for the time, place, clothing and food to practice yoga. If it is too simple to practice yoga directly, it may cause harm to the body. So what do you need to pay attention to when practicing yoga?

The choice of location

Yoga practice needs to pay attention to the choice of location. Generally speaking, the place we choose for practicing should be dry, free from dust, insects and odor, and the surrounding temperature is suitable. For example, the balcony, the room, the garden are good choices.

Choice of time

Yoga practice should be done before meals, for example, in the early morning or a few hours before evening. Usually, between 5am and 8am is the best time of the day to practice yoga. As for how long to practice at a time, it is appropriate to adapt to your own body and not to make yourself too tired.

Dress Loosely

Your clothes should be clean, light and loose enough to allow for movement. The yoga postures require different body movements. It is best to wear soft cotton clothing. When it is cold, you can add a shirt or a thin sweater. It is a good idea to avoid the body from getting cold. It is best to take a shower before practice to relax your body and mind before proceeding.

Practice on an empty stomach

Yoga should be practiced on an empty stomach. However, it can also be done 4 hours after a full meal or 20 minutes after you have had a glass of orange juice or a glass of skim milk. However, it is worth noting that you should avoid strong tea, coffee, alcohol, smoking and eating spicy foods. Eating seven minutes full is often good for you.

You should not practice when you are sick

You should avoid practicing yoga when you are physically ill. For example, if you have a fever, severe asthma or suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure, low blood pressure and its illnesses, practicing yoga may overwork your body and may also cause your condition to worsen. It will definitely do more harm than good to your body.

Caution when practicing yoga during pregnancy

Pregnant women should avoid the practice of yoga asanas, cleansing techniques, bellows pranayama and sun pranayama. Yoga asanas can be practiced during the first 80 to 90 days of pregnancy, but once pregnant, pregnant women should not do breath-holding exercises or yoga postures related to the abdomen. Other than that, yoga postures can be practiced throughout pregnancy. They are very helpful in childbirth. It is important to note that no yoga asana practice can be done less than 60 days after delivery, after which you can slowly and appropriately practice some simple poses. Eventually, you can return to your pre-pregnancy practice.

Other Precautions

Do not expect rapid or amazing progress at the beginning of your practice. The results of your yoga practice are highly dependent on individual differences, the nature of your illness, and the regularity of your practice. During the healing phase, you must practice regularly and very regularly. You can even practice yoga on your way home, but only if you have mastered it properly. Not everyone can practice all of the practices of yoga, so please practice according to your needs and the guidance you receive from the experts.
