Ge Shan Xiang is a perennial herb, 40-130 cm tall, with a smooth and hairless stem. The primary root is cylindrical or spindle-shaped. The stem is erect, cylindrical, with longitudinal and shallow grooves, and branches in the upper part.
The leaves have petioles, with a length of 7-30 cm, and a wide sheath at the base. The leaf blade is oblong to broadly triangular, tripartite and bipinnate; the lobes have petioles, with a length of 2-7 cm;
The small lobes are elliptical to lanceolate, 3.5-6.5 cm long, 0.4-2.5 cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, and gradually narrowed at the base. Flowering period is from June to August. Fruiting period is from September to October.
