The 5 Do-Nots of Drinking Water for Health Preservation

April 4, 2024

As the saying goes, "People are made of water." The human body contributes about 70% of its weight to water, which shows its importance to us. Drinking more water naturally becomes an important part of health preservation. However, drinking water is not as simple as it seems. Remember the 5 do-nots, and you will truly know how to drink water for health preservation.

  1. Do not wait until you are thirsty to drink water

If you feel thirsty, it means that your body is already dehydrated.

Urination, sweating, breathing... the human body is constantly losing water. Therefore, you should drink water regularly and not just lose it without replenishing.

  2. Do not add too many ingredients to the water

Drinking too much sugary water or sweetened beverages can cause weight gain and also hinder blood sugar control. If you find that plain water is tasteless and difficult to drink, you can add some wolfberries, longan, or lemon slices. These are all good choices as they can quench thirst and promote health.

  3. Do not be afraid of "overnight water" or "boiled water"

Laboratory tests have found that the content of nitrite in water that has been boiled multiple times or tea water that has been left overnight is far below the safety limit. There is no need to worry about "nitrite poisoning" or "toxicity".

  4. Do not blindly trust various types of water

On the market and in supermarkets, there are various types of water available, which can be overwhelming and confusing. Pure water claims to be clean and pure, while mineral water claims to be rich in trace elements and minerals.

In fact, the amount of minerals in drinking water is very small. Eating some fruits and vegetables will provide more trace elements than the water consumed in a day.

Drinking water is for hydration, and as long as it is clean and hygienic, it can quench thirst effectively.

  5. Do not forget to regularly clean the water dispenser

Water dispensers may breed bacteria during use. If not cleaned for a long time, they can pose a safety hazard. It is recommended to clean the water dispenser every 1 to 2 months.

Don't just talk about "drinking more water." Pour a cup of hot water for your loved ones and have one for yourself as well. Health preservation starts with a cup of hot water!
