Flowering period of Tancao

Flowering period: 65-70 days for male flowers, 50-55 days for female flowers.

During this period, the growth of the plant crown (horizontal growth) is the main focus. From July 31st to September 30th, the growth rate of the crown is 5.5-5.8 times that of the plant height.

At the same time, the stems and branches thicken and elongate rapidly, and the flowers mature faster.

The formation of flowers follows a pattern: from top to bottom, from outer to inner, forming in levels and layers. On sunny days, a new level is formed every two to three days.

Flowering characteristics on cloudy and rainy days: male flowers have a two-day flowering cycle.

The flowering time is from 6-10 am, with pollen dispersal and pollination occurring from 7-11 am, and the flowers close after 11 am.

If it is cloudy or rainy, the flowers do not bloom. After the weather clears up, they can bloom continuously for 2-3 days before returning to the two-day flowering cycle.

Each male flower cluster only opens 2-5 small flowers at a time, and it blooms 2-4 times in total.

The main reason for the lack of flowering on cloudy and rainy days is the high humidity in the air. Therefore, spraying water on the male flowers in the early morning of a sunny day or soaking them in water can completely inhibit the release of pollen on that day.

The interval period is extended, and after the weather clears up, the interval period is shortened by one or two days, and two more levels are added to accelerate flower formation.

Symptoms of Tancao allergy

One of the hazards of Tancao is that its pollen can cause allergies in humans. Tancao allergy is also a major pathogen of hay fever.

In general, people with Tancao allergy experience itching all over the body, especially in the ears, eyes, and nose. They may also have a runny nose, headache, and other symptoms.

Serious cases of Tancao allergy can lead to complications such as emphysema and even death.
