Zhenshan Tang: A Natural Diuretic for Yang Deficiency and Water Stagnation

Zhenshan Tang is a diuretic that can eliminate dampness. It has the effect of warming and yang and promoting water metabolism. It is mainly used to treat symptoms of yang deficiency and water stagnation, such as heavy limbs, difficulty in urination, dizziness, and blurred vision. It can also be used clinically to treat palpitations and fatigue.


Observation: The tongue is swollen and large, with tooth marks on the edges. The upper limbs have involuntary muscle twitching, excessive sweating on the face, and fatigue of the spirit.

Pulse diagnosis: Weak and slow pulse.

Inquiry: Normal diet and normal bowel movements. Due to continuous muscle twitching (obviously in the limbs), unable to fall asleep at night, and weakness when walking.

Prescription: Zhenshan Tang

Composition: Prepared Aconite 15g, Red Peony 45g, White Peony 45g, Poria 45g, Dried Ginger 45g, Fresh Ginger 45g (cut), White Atractylodes 30g

Dosage: Three doses.

Preparation and administration: Soak the herbs in 3 kilograms of cold water for 20 minutes, then boil for 20 minutes after the water boils. Divide into three doses and take them hot after meals.

Avoid: Raw and cold food, mung beans, and pork.
