Fei Xing Cao: The Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herb for Lung Health

  The Chinese medicinal herb "Fei Xing Cao" is the tender whole grass of the plant "Shuang Hu Die" from the Gentianaceae family. It is harvested in early summer and dried. It can be used to clear the lungs, stop coughing, detoxify, and reduce swelling. It is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine and is frequently used to treat lung diseases.
 


 

  Fei Xing Cao

  Fei Xing Cao is a plant that grows in damp fields. It has a noble appearance and can be easily recognized by those who are knowledgeable.

  The flowers of Fei Xing Cao are trumpet-shaped, which gives them a unique character. The leaves are usually opposite each other, with either 2 or 4 leaves, commonly 4 leaves.

  Medicinal Use of Fei Xing Cao

  Fei Xing Cao is primarily used for medicinal purposes, and only the tender grass has any value. It is said that only the tender grass of Fei Xing Cao has medicinal properties, while mature Fei Xing Cao has almost no medicinal effect.

  In folk medicine, Fei Xing Cao is used to treat common lung diseases such as lung heat cough, lung tuberculosis with hemoptysis, and lung abscess.

  How to Use Fei Xing Cao

  For coughing up blood due to overexertion: Take 5-6 qian (double the amount for fresh Fei Xing Cao) of Fei Xing Cao, and one liang of rock sugar. Boil in water and drink.

  For treating nephritis: Take four qian of Fei Xing Cao, five qian of Deng Xin Cao, and one liang of corn root. Boil in water and drink once daily.

  Edible Uses of Fei Xing Cao

  In daily life, Fei Xing Cao can be used internally by making a decoction of 10-20 grams (50-100 grams for fresh Fei Xing Cao). It can also be used externally as a poultice.
