Side effects:
① Hawthorn contains a large amount of organic acids, such as tartaric acid and hawthorn acid. It is not suitable for those with excessive gastric acid secretion, digestive ulcers, dental caries, indigestion, cardiovascular diseases, enteritis, or those taking tonics. Pregnant women and those with weak spleen and stomach should also avoid it. ② Eating hawthorn on an empty stomach can increase gastric acid secretion, causing adverse stimulation to the gastric mucosa, leading to bloating, acid reflux, and causing stomach diseases. Therefore, it should not be consumed on an empty stomach. ③ The tannic acid in raw hawthorn combines with gastric acid to form gastric stones, which are difficult to digest and can lead to gastric ulcers, gastric bleeding, and even gastric perforation. Therefore, it is recommended to consume raw hawthorn in moderation, especially for those with weak gastrointestinal function. ④ Hawthorn should not be consumed with seafood, ginseng, or lemon. ⑤ Cassia seeds have a cooling nature and can cause diarrhea and lower blood pressure. They should not be consumed by those with weak spleen and stomach, spleen deficiency causing diarrhea, or low blood pressure. In addition, long-term consumption of cassia seeds can cause intestinal lesions and irregular menstruation, and even abnormal endometrium, so it should be consumed in moderation and not for a long period of time.
