Description of Yangjiao Tianma
Identification: cylindrical, 3.7-7.5 cm long, grayish-white or light brown on the surface, opaque. Those with the outer skin intact may have 3-4 rings and longitudinal lines, and can be peeled off like fibers. Visible obvious knife marks. There is a concave or raised residual stem mark at the top. Solid texture, not easy to break, uneven cross-section, resembling wood texture. Slightly fragrant, slightly bitter taste.

① Numerous starch grains, single or compound.
Single grains are round, helmet-shaped, or axe-shaped, with a few irregular quadrilateral shapes, with a diameter of 3-8-13 μm. Larger starch grains occasionally have cross-shaped hilum, and the layered lines are not obvious. Compound grains are composed of 2-4 sub-grains; sub-grains are often helmet-shaped, semi-circular, or triangular.
② Calcium oxalate cluster crystals exist in the inner layer and thin-walled cells of the cork, and the flower-like or petal-like crystals are sharp, with a diameter of 8-26 μm.
③ The vessels are reticulate, with a diameter of up to 80 μm, and the end walls are inclined, with elongated pits. Fragments of vessels with large pitted vessels can also be seen.
