Cultivation Methods of Yasong: A Guide to Growing and Caring for the Resilient Sedum Plant

March 15, 2024

Yasong is the whole grass of the sedum plant of the Crassulaceae family. It mainly grows on cliffs. It is well known that Yasong has a well-developed root system and a strong vitality. Therefore, it is difficult to dig or plant Yasong. Now let's take a look at the cultivation methods of Yasong.

  1. Selection of planting materials

To grow Yasong successfully, we need to choose Yasong with intact roots and many fine red roots. Avoid buying Yasong with broken taproots, aerial roots, large areas of broken roots, especially those connected to water lines. Only Yasong with good root systems can be planted more effectively.

In short, even if the shape of Yasong is good, do not buy it if the roots are not good. Ninety percent of them will become firewood. Do not have any luck. Also, determine the time to bring Yasong down the mountain and try not to delay it to avoid severe dehydration of Yasong.

  2. Planting Yasong

Before planting Yasong, it is necessary to prepare the soil well. It is best to sterilize the soil. The sterilization method can be spraying formalin and covering it with plastic for five days, then uncovering it and exposing it to the sun for a few days.

After Yasong arrives home, do not immediately put it in a pot. First, soak it in water with a small dose of rooting agent for about an hour. Some people use sand for planting Yasong, but I do not recommend it.

If conditions permit, you can use red soil. If conditions do not permit, I recommend a kind of powdered shale called vermiculite. If conditions permit, it is best to use ground planting with root guards, and try not to use pot planting.

After planting, cover Yasong for shade and wind protection, but ventilation is necessary. If conditions permit, build a shed for Yasong. Remember not to remove the leaves of Yasong when it arrives home. Then, water it thoroughly with water mixed with a good amount of rooting agent.

  3. Care for Yasong

After planting Yasong, do not think that there is nothing to do. On the contrary, boring days are coming. Watering at least three times a day is essential, and spraying water with a good amount of rooting agent every three to five days is also important. Remember not to water at noon.

After that, about ten to fifteen days later, insect control should be carried out, usually four or five times. During the care period, you will find many small buds, but do not be happy. They are just water buds. Only if these buds can grow into leaves is it a good sign.

Similarly, new buds will also appear on the leaves, but this can only be considered a good sign. It cannot be said that the plant is alive. If it is not well managed, it will still die.

After Yasong has survived, do not immediately put it in a shelter. This will easily cause sunburn and death of Yasong. Let Yasong gradually adapt to sunlight, so open the shelter little by little.

  4. Grafting issue

As for grafting Yasong, I can only describe it as nonsense. Currently, only the Arhat pine can be grafted. Grafting is just for one's own amusement.
