【Identification】

The root rhizome of Yunnan Qiancao is short and densely segmented. The roots are slender, cylindrical, slightly curved, with few branches, ranging from 7-20cm in length and 3-6mm in diameter. Several or more than ten roots grow on the small rhizome.

The surface is reddish-brown with fine longitudinal wrinkles. The texture is brittle and easily breaks. The cross-section of the epidermis is yellowish-red or dark red, easily peeling off, and the wood is red-yellow. It has a slight sweet and slightly bitter taste. Thick and sturdy roots with red color are preferred.

【Medicinal Uses】

Promotes blood circulation, relieves pain, dispels blood stasis, and nourishes qi and blood. It is used for rheumatic pain, bruises, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, leukorrhea, postpartum joint pain, pulmonary tuberculosis with coughing up blood, dizziness, insomnia, and anemia.

【Prescription and Usage】

1. For vomiting blood, blood-stained phlegm: 6g of small ginseng, 6g of Ye Xia Hua. Grind into powder, take with water or decoct with water, sweeten with brown sugar.

2. For amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, leukorrhea, postpartum joint pain: 90g of small ginseng. Boil with pork ribs (lightly salted) and consume.

3. For pulmonary tuberculosis: 30g of small ginseng, 30g of small white. Grind into powder, steam with 90g of honey, take three times a day, complete the course in two days.
