  1. Treatment of diabetes

  The methanol extract of Gang Ban Gui can effectively inhibit the activity of α-glucosidase and can be used in the treatment of diabetes.

  2. Antibacterial effects

  The aqueous extract of Gang Ban Gui has strong antibacterial effects against Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Salmonella, and other pathogenic microorganisms.

  3. Anti-inflammatory effects

  The total extract and n-butanol fraction of Gang Ban Gui can significantly reduce the swelling of mouse ears caused by xylene and inhibit the swelling of mouse feet caused by fresh chicken egg white, indicating that the n-butanol fraction of Gang Ban Gui has a certain anti-inflammatory effect.

  4. Antitussive and expectorant effects

  The water solution of Gang Ban Gui has obvious antitussive effects in mice ammonia-induced cough experiments, and the dose is positively correlated with the efficacy. Gang Ban Gui can also reduce the number of coughs caused by SO2 and prolong the latent period of coughing.

  1. Lymphadenitis

  Composition: 18.8g of Gang Ban Gui, 30.0g of Xia Ku Cao, 30.0g of Feng Wei Cao, 30.0g of Ban Zhi Lian, 37.5g of fresh snakeberry

  Usage: Boil 8 bowls of water to 3 bowls, divide into 3 doses, or stew with fresh duck eggs.

  2. Acne

  Composition: 37.5g of fresh Gang Ban Gui, 37.5g of Kang Xiang Teng, 37.5g of golden needle root, 37.5g of mimosa root.

  Usage: Boil 5 bowls of water to 2 bowls, add 150.0g of lean pork, stew until tender, divide into 2 doses.

  3. Itchy skin

  Composition: 37.5g of Gang Ban Gui, 37.5g of goose doesn't eat grass, appropriate amount of sesame oil.

  Usage: Dry the two herbs, grind into fine powder, add an appropriate amount of sesame oil and apply to the itchy area.

  [Clinical applications of Gang Ban Gui]

  1. Treatment of whooping cough

  Take 1 liang of Gang Ban Gui (reduce for infants), fry with white wine, add rock sugar water to decoct, divide into two doses per day; or add 1 liang of Houttuynia cordata and 3 qian of Ilex chinensis, decoct and take.

  26 cases were treated with Gang Ban Gui alone. 19 cases were significantly effective, 5 cases were effective, and 2 cases were ineffective. Two cases were treated with the addition of Houttuynia cordata and Ilex chinensis, and both were cured.

  It was also used in 7 cases of spasmodic cough in children during the day, with 1 liang of Gang Ban Gui fried and added to sweet wine and rock sugar to make tea. After taking 2 doses, the coughing decreased and the child slept peacefully. After 4-6 doses, all symptoms disappeared.

  2. Treatment of eczema
