Wolf's claw, as a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, has various applications in medicine. Let's learn about the wolf's claw pictures and its accompanying prescriptions.

【Botanical Characteristics of Wolf's Claw】

Wolf's claw is an annual herb. The stem is erect, 30-80 centimeters tall, sometimes reaching 90 centimeters. It branches from the base and is hairless. The leaves are opposite, small at the top of the stem, sometimes undivided, and pinnately or deeply divided in the middle and lower parts of the stem. The lobes are 3-5, ovate-lanceolate to narrow-lanceolate, rarely nearly ovate, with a wedge-shaped or nearly rounded base, tapering or gradually pointed at the apex, with irregular large serrations along the edges, and the upper lobes are usually larger than the lower ones. The petiole has wings. The inflorescence is terminal, spherical or flattened-spherical; the bracts are in two rows, with the inner row lanceolate, membranous, about the same length as or slightly shorter than the inflorescence, and the outer row lanceolate or inverted-lanceolate, longer than the inflorescence, leaf-like; the flowers are tubular and yellow; the stigma is bifid. The fruit is flattened, elongated-ovoid or inverted-ovoid, 4.5-9 millimeters long and about 1.5-2.2 millimeters in diameter, with inverted prickles along the edges, a central longitudinal rib on each side, and an upward-pointing prickle on each upper end of the sides, with fine backward prickles on the prickles. It flowers from August to September and fruits in October. It grows in wet places by the water, ditches, and shallow water beaches, and also on roadsides and wasteland. It is distributed in most parts of the country. This plant and its congener, Trigonotis peduncularis, are both called "douzhaocao" in Sichuan, and are used equally. Trigonotis peduncularis is the main variety of the herbal medicine "jin zhan yin pan" in Guangdong and Guangxi.
