Lungwort: A Herbal Remedy for Lung and Kidney Diseases

Lungwort is a perennial herbaceous plant with a slightly bitter taste. It is commonly used to treat lung and kidney-related diseases. Different methods of usage have different effects. Let's take a look at them together.


1. Treatment for hot cough

Lungwort, five to six qian (double the amount for fresh leaves), rock sugar, one liang. Decoction and drink.

2. Treatment for cough with phlegm and lung abscess

Lungwort, two to three qian. Decoction and mix with white sugar, or decoct with other lung-clearing herbs.

3. Treatment for abscess and swelling

Fresh lungwort leaves (mash into mud), add a little egg white and mix well. Apply to the affected area and change once a day.

4. Treatment for nephritis

Lungwort, four qian, lampwick herb, five qian, corn roots, one liang. Decoction and drink one dose daily.

5. Treatment for high fever in children

Lungwort, two qian, a little rock sugar. Decoction and drink one dose daily.

6. Treatment for ulcers and carbuncles

Fresh lungwort leaves, mash into paste and apply to the affected area. Change the dressing twice a day. Additionally, take three to five qian of the whole plant and decoct with water.
