[What is Wolfgrass?]
1. Habitat and Distribution
Wolfgrass grows in wetlands, ditches, and shallow waters, as well as roadside wastelands. It is distributed in most parts of the country.
2. Ecological Characteristics
Wolfgrass reproduces through seeds and prefers wetland habitats. It is commonly found in reed fields and seedling fields, and can have a large presence in certain areas. It can be seen germinating in mid to late March and has a relatively long germination period.
Due to the high fertility and good water and nutrient conditions of reed fields, wolfgrass grows vigorously, surpassing reeds in height in May. It branches out extensively and has lush foliage, greatly affecting the growth of reeds. Even in November, wolfgrass plants can still be seen flowering.
3. Control Methods
Generally, in mid to late February, within 10-15 days after leveling the seedling fields, apply 30ml of 24% glyphosate emulsion mixed with 6g of 50% wettable powder per mu (about 667 square meters).
After irrigating the fields, evenly apply the herbicide mixed with urea, and let the water naturally dry. This can also help control other broadleaf weeds. For a small number of emerged wolfgrass plants, they can be manually removed early on.
