The appearance of the ground centipede may look terrifying, but what troubles other small organisms most is the chemical substances it sprays from its abdomen.
The sprayed chemical substances can be accurately directed towards its prey. It has 31 to 181 pairs of legs.
The ground centipede is a unique species in China. It has various forms, but the majority are long and slender. They are more commonly found in southern China and the largest known individual can grow up to 35cm+.

The ground centipede has a moderately wide head and a narrow tail. Although it is called a centipede, it does not belong to the typical centipede species. It belongs to the order Scolopendromorpha in China, which is why it is not included in the largest centipede species found on the internet.
The venom of the ground centipede is relatively mild. It prefers damp environments and generally feeds on small insects. It does not actively attack humans.
