What is Tianpeng grass

Tianpeng grass is the whole plant of the Caryophyllaceae plant Quezecao, also known as Bin Fanlu. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, 15-30cm tall. The stem is slender, tufted, prostrate at the lower part, and sparsely branched at the upper part, green or with a purple color.

The leaves are opposite, sessile, oblong or lanceolate, 5-20mm long, 2-3mm wide, gradually pointed at the tip, gradually narrowed at the base, with entire or shallowly wavy margins, and hairless on both sides.

The inflorescence is umbrella-shaped, terminal or axillary; the pedicel is slender like silk; the bracts and bracteoles are small; the sepals are lanceolate, with a pointed tip, membranous edges, and smooth surfaces;

The petals are white, about the same length as or slightly shorter than the sepals, divided into 2 lobes; stamens 5; ovary ovoid, 2-3 styles.

The capsule is slightly longer than the persistent sepals, and splits into 6 lobes when mature, with numerous seeds inside. The seeds are kidney-shaped, brown, and have wrinkled surfaces. The flowering period is from April to November, and the fruiting period is from June to December.


Efficacy and function of Tianpeng grass

Tianpeng grass has the effects of dispelling wind and dampness, promoting blood circulation and reducing swelling, detoxification and stopping bleeding. It is commonly used for common cold, diarrhea, dysentery, rheumatism, bruises, fractures, boils and abscesses, hemorrhoids, snake bites, vomiting blood, nosebleeds, and external bleeding.

2. For infantile diarrhea: Tianpeng grass 30g, Purslane 60g. Decoction and take orally.

3. For hemorrhoids: Grind Xuelihua into powder, mix with sesame oil for wet hemorrhoids or mix with dry powder for external application. The hemorrhoids will shrink and disappear.

4. For bruises and injuries: Quezecao 30g, yellow wine 60-120g. Add appropriate amount of water, decoct and take orally.

5. For boils and abscesses: Fresh Quezecao in a suitable amount. Add a little salt and mash it, then apply it to the affected area.

6. For snake bites: Quezecao 30-60g. Decoction and take orally. Take another handful, wash and mash it, and apply it to the wound.
