1. Treatment of lung heat cough: Take 5 qian (15 grams) of Da Jiugu Niu root (peeled), 2 qian (6 grams) of Xianglingcao, and 2 qian (6 grams) of Wacao. Grind them into powder, take 2 qian (6 grams) each time, twice a day.

2. Treatment of mastitis, parotitis, boils and carbuncles, and toxins: Take Da Jiugu Niu, Chonglou, Baiji, Xiaozhanyao, Wuxiang Xueteng, and other ingredients in equal parts, grind them into powder, and apply externally with honey or vinegar.

Identification of Da Jiugu Niu!

Da Jiugu Niu is a shrub, about 1 meter tall, with thick and stout roots and sparsely hairy branches. The leaves are alternate, ovate-elliptic, 3-6.5 cm long, 2-4.5 cm wide, with blunt or slightly pointed tips, rounded bases, and irregular coarse serrations on the edges; no stipules.

The flowers are small, white, unisexual and dioecious, arranged in terminal conical inflorescences; the male flowers have cup-shaped calyxes with 4 tooth-like lobes, 4 petals in the shape of a lanceolate spoon, and the female flowers have no petals and a ring-shaped disc; there are 2 leaf-like bracts, white in color.

The fruits are flattened and do not split, attached to the middle part of the winged bracts. There is 1 seed, and it blooms in autumn.
