[Effects and Benefits of Zhu Ye Shen]
Zhu Ye Shen has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, and promoting blood circulation. It is mainly used for high fever that does not subside, exhaustion with bone steaming and night sweats, rheumatism and paralysis, joint and lower back pain, dysmenorrhea, excessive menstrual bleeding, boils and abscesses, bruises and fractures.
① "Shaanxi Traditional Chinese Herbs": "Nourishing yin and replenishing deficiency, dispelling wind and dampness, activating collaterals and relieving pain. Used for exhaustion, bone steaming and night sweats, pulmonary tuberculosis, palpitations and shortness of breath, rheumatic lower back and leg pain, sciatica."

Usage of Zhu Ye Shen: Internal use: decoction; 3-5 qian (10-15 grams); or soaked in alcohol, stewed with chicken, powdered for dispersing. External use: apply the mashed Zhu Ye Shen to the affected area.
The dried rhizome of Zhu Ye Shen is flat cylindrical, curved, 5-10mm long, and about 5mm in diameter, with numerous fine roots growing below. The root of Zhu Ye Shen is cylindrical, slightly twisted, 4-10mm long, and 1-2mm in diameter. The surface is yellowish-brown with fine longitudinal grooves.
It is hard and crispy, with a pale yellow-white skin and a light brown wood section. Zhu Ye Shen has a mild aroma and a sweet and slightly spicy taste. The thicker and darker yellow-brown roots are preferred, and they are also used as "Bai Wei Sun" in Guizhou region.

[Clinical Applications of Zhu Ye Shen]
① Treatment of high fever in children: Take an appropriate amount of Zhu Ye Shen, grind it into powder. Take one qian (3 grams) each time, twice a day, and swallow with cold boiled water.
② Treatment of hand and foot paralysis: Take two liang (60 grams) of mountain lily flower root, and one chicken egg. Stew them in water, and consume the soup with the egg.
③ Treatment of rheumatic pain: Take six qian (18 grams) of mountain lily flower root, five qian (15 grams) of red hong er root, three qian (9 grams) of madder root, three qian (9 grams) of dragon's blood root, and three qian (9 grams) of tiger thorn root. Soak them in one jin (500 grams) of white wine for seven days. Take five qian (15 grams) to two liang (60 grams) each time, once in the morning and once in the evening.
④ Treatment of lower back pain: Take an appropriate amount of mountain lily flower root, grind it into powder. Take two qian (6 grams) each time, mix it with water and alcohol, and take it once in the morning and once in the evening.
⑤ Treatment of rheumatic joint pain, dysmenorrhea, excessive menstrual bleeding, and pulmonary tuberculosis: Take three to five qian (9-15 grams) of Zhu Ye Shen. Decoct it in water or stew it with chicken and consume.
⑥ Treatment of bruises, fractures, gunshot wounds, ulcers, and cellulitis: Mash fresh Zhu Ye Shen and apply it to the affected area.
⑦ Treatment of venomous snake bites causing unconsciousness: Take two qian (6 grams) of mountain lily flower root, grind it into powder, and mix it with three qian (9 grams) of spiderwort root. Decoct them in water and drink the liquid.
